Real Life Experiences
“What could possibly happen”, or “I’m sure I am covered
by my credit card” are often the thoughts of many but
things can go wrong with real people. Wouldn't you

Quad biking on an island
Two travellers ventured into the wilds of a
Mediterranean island on their quad bikes unaware of the
danger ahead.
Before they knew it their bikes had flipped and they
were both taken to a local hospital for treatment where
one of the adventurers was diagnosed with fractures to
the elbow, pelvis and ankle.
Luckily they both had travel insurance that insured them
for these kinds of incidents. It was arranged for
earlier flights home for both of patients as well as
baggage and wheelchair assistance. An ambulance was
arranged for the patient who was unable to walk, as well
as a nurse to accompany her on the flight. A day room
and tickets were arranged for the nurse as well as a
temporary visa.
Both ladies arrived back in SA and have recovered from
their ordeal and are looking forward to their next
adventure.
The case of Mr
X becoming insured as he boarded
The convenience of the Travelinsure website in today’s
fast paced society is well illustrated by people who
urgently need travel insurance at the last minute. This
convenience was no better illustrated when Mr X arrived
at Oliver Tambo Airport only to discover he had no
travel insurance for his trip.
He phoned the call centre at 17h30 and since it was
after hours the call was diverted to the cell phone of
our Sales & Marketing Manager, Nadine. Mr X explained
that he needed cover before 18h10 when he needed to
board the plane. Since Mr X was unable to get to an
internet café at the airport before boarding and Nadine
was stuck in a traffic jam, Nadine called her husband
and asked him to phone Mr X and book the ticket from
their home computer. Never having used the site before,
Nadine’s husband had no trouble navigating to
Travelinsure’s website and he managed to issue and email
the policy to Mr X before 18h05.
